Whale watching

Today whale watching was on the program 🥰 Since we had some time before the start of our tour, we made our way to Point Pino Lighthouse. The Point Pino Lighthouse is a nice, small lighthouse in Pacific Grove and is the oldest continuously operating lighthouse on the west coast of the USA. It was lit on February 1, 1855, and is still running with the original lens *know-it-all mode off* 😅 Visits are only possible on weekends. So we took a short walk around it and a detour down to the surf before bringing the car back to the hotel to make our way on foot to Old Fisherman's Wharf. As soon as we arrived, we were already allowed on the boat. After a short briefing, we set off on the ocean towards Monterey Bay. There were otters and sea lions to see in the harbor. After about 10 minutes of driving, a school of dolphins crossed our path 😍 It's just amazing to see all of this live. When we arrived in the bay, the first humpback whale didn't take long to appear. First, we could see a spout, then it waved at us with its flipper 🥰 Indescribable, breathtaking 😅 Shortly thereafter, a couple swam past us and both jumped out of the water one after the other 🥰 It's okay to see some, maybe their back, maybe a spout, or maybe even a fluke, but something like this 🤩 All expectations were exceeded 😄 A unique experience 🥰

Right now, there are also orcas in the bay. They are present all year round, but the best time to see them is from January to May and September to November. You might also get lucky 🤗

Back at the harbor, we strolled around the wharf before returning to the hotel. Change quickly and off we went to the Del Monte Shopping Center or for me: back to the roots. This is where our (Sandra's and my) search for Victoria's Secret started 9 years ago 😆 Just passing by, a quick look at the map to see if everything is still in place and went straight towards it. Jörg just like 😳 Look at it for 2 seconds and you know the way? - Of course, you never forget the first Victoria 🤣 There wasn't a big haul, but just the feeling of being there, ah 🥰 Just a quick visit to one or the other store, and that was it. Tomorrow we will continue along Highway No. 1 to San Simeon.
