Arrival in Hanoi

It's a warm day in Munich as we embark on our journey to 8600 kilometers away to Hanoi. A feeling of unease and a lot of excitement accompany us until we disembark after almost 18 hours at the International Airport. A wall of 36 degrees and 90 percent humidity welcomes us. Without having booked a transfer in advance, we start looking for a taxi driver. After one minute, several Vietnamese people approach us with a smile on their face. We pay a fare of around 18€ for the 50-minute drive to the famous Old Quarter. The ancient capital is the landmark and rightfully so, countless people flock here, and the scent of delicious food fills the air. The alleys are narrow, yet it feels like there is more traffic here than on the German autobahn. On a street corner, we discover a young woman in front of a grill. Without further asking what it exactly is, we order it. After 2 minutes, she hands us two Ba Minh for only 1€. We have found one of our favorite foods, a white bread with vegetables, sauce, and grilled pork. There are also vegetarian options available at different places. The first impression has completely convinced us. You can find the rest of the journey in my other blogs.

Yours, Fabi
