A whippet on the summit

An excursion to Seefeld is planned for 20.08.2016. In the morning, we receive the message that the weather conditions for paragliding are suitable, although we did not expect it anymore. Foehn weather was announced and then flying is prohibited due to strong winds.

We meet flight instructor Christian at the funicular railway to Rosshütte, who is very relaxed and we hit it off right away. Shortly afterwards, we are already at the Seefelder Joch. Alice copes surprisingly well with the trips on the funicular and then on the cable car from Rosshütte to Seefelder Joch, even though Myri takes her on her arm occasionally to relax.

Christian prepares the paraglider. It's my first paragliding flight and I have great respect for the height and slightly shaky legs. Christian counts down. 3, 2, 1 and go. We run down the slope and a few seconds later we are already in the air. Absolutely amazing! An indescribable feeling and an indescribable panorama... After a few rounds near the starting point, we finally reach the take-off altitude through the good thermals and then glide down into the valley. We have a wonderful view of the Zugspitze and many other mountains and mountain ranges. I kindly decline Christian's offer of acrobatic maneuvers in the air and we enjoy the panorama a little longer before he explains the landing procedure to me. I listen attentively. A few seconds later, we reach the landing area near the golf course in Seefeld and I fall softly into a molehill. One of my most intense experiences in my life and highly recommended to emulate!

Overjoyed and full of adrenaline, I make my way back to Myri and Alice with the cable car. We decide to cross the Seefelder Spitze and then turn towards Reitherjoch-Alm. A dreamy path, but not always easy. Alice is also somewhat overwhelmed in the occasional field of scree to find the right way, but it works. After a little more than 2 hours, we reach the Reitherjoch-Alm. A beautiful alpine hut where the Wiener Schnitzel and the Käsespätzle are recommended.

The return trip to Seefeld takes another hour and Alice, although she still does several sprints along the way, is overjoyed to finally be able to fall onto the back seat of the car and not have to walk anymore.

During the following short trip to the city center of Seefeld, it starts to rain. We think that we have made perfect use of this weekend and that the weather played along excellently despite moderate forecasts. Although we haven't really spared Alice today either, she will cope with it. Because in the mountains, she seems to be delighted and that's all we want. By the way, the pizzeria at Kirchplatz in Scharnitz is highly recommended and of course Skyguide Christian in Seefeld. Thank you very much for the great experience!

Tomorrow, after breakfast, we will head back home, but the next vacation with the dog will not be long in coming!
