Farmwork week 2
The second week on the farm has passed and we are wondering that we have already been on the farm for two weeks :-D. The week flew by again and was quite exhausting. We have muscle soreness everywhere, even in our fingers :-D.
Jenny is completely exhausted from getting up early... but well, it means holding on until the beginning of September, for our dream. =) Moreover, we can say that it is still fun! Since the routine is not yet fully established, the work usually takes longer than planned.
We can now even describe Mike's task in more detail. His tasks change from day to day. This week he had to repair fences, dig deep holes in the clay soil to bury posts for new fences, spray weed killer with a tractor, do general farm work, and take care of the calves every day.
With the calves, food has to be replenished daily and the stable has to be cleaned. In addition, the calves need a lot of affection to lose their fear of humans. Yesterday he had to catch 50 calves and bring them into a separate cage. It's hard to believe, but these little cute calves have a lot of strength and are damn fast. They were caught to give them an ear punch, burn off the horns, and castrate the male calves. So, not a task for Jenny :-D.
