Chapter 10.2 - A black day at 30° in the shade

ޝާއިޢުކޮށްފައިވެއެވެ: 10.03.2023

10.3.

10:26 am

I am sitting on my balcony overlooking a paradise.

In 4 hours and a bit, Greta would have arrived. I would have been able to share every beautiful moment with her until March 31st.

It feels like a stab in the heart every time my brain realizes that it is almost 2:40 pm and I won't be picking anyone up.

I searched the internet again for options, but nothing would be worth it now... She definitely won't come. Now I can only make the best of it.

I think continuing to write the blog helps me, so:

I woke up in my very comfortable bed. The pillows are soft and despite the 'turbulence' of last night, I slept like a rock.

After unpacking my things and freshening up, I went for breakfast.

You must know that I was accommodated in this hotel for most of my trips to Bali in my younger years.

It's crazy how much has happened here in 12 years. The staff is very familiar to me. The receptionist, the woman who clears the plates, even the janitor who later asked me from the neighboring balcony if he could clean my room because he was unsure if he was allowed to enter. The building seems to have many new rooms, the furniture is really classy. The pool has been rebuilt. Unfortunately, there is no longer a bar right by the pool and it's crowded with retirees and seniors...

I want to go to the beach soon. Let's see what has changed there. First, I need to charge my phone and then I'm off.

12:53 pm

I am sitting by the water, the view is fantastic. I'll ignore the millions of tourists for now. I am going to meet Ole and Lisbeth for lunch.

11:00 pm

I am covered up in my bed. What a day. The area around Sanur has changed completely. Everything seems densely built and crowded. There are still cozy places and that fantastic view, but they are very scarce and mostly with big resorts in the background.

The homestay of the two is also built up, but still quite cozy. After brunch at the beach, Ole and I went to the night market. Super delicious food and fresh juices. Lisbeth didn't join us as she was still tired from the flight and wanted to rest.

After finishing the meal, Ole and I ended the evening with two cold beers each and a few rounds of Chinese poker. Then I walked back to the hotel, took a shower, and brushed my teeth.

It's always crazy how good friends can put a smile on your face, no matter how down you are.

At this point, THANK YOU to both of you. I am so glad we met again! Love you 🥰

At this point, I say good night

See you tomorrow in paradise 🏝️
