San Pedro de Atacama is located in the driest desert in the world, they say, but today rain clouds were spotted on the drive here with my monster Toyota Hilux, which looks like a fire truck.
I thought that in the Altiplano, at up to 4,500 meters above sea level, with unpaved roads, something like this wouldn't be bad, and yet the car is smaller than some SUVs parked in the northwest center and with it only one child and a bag of potatoes are transported on asphalted roads….
The town itself is very beautiful, I think, and one could think that they are in a spaghetti western, if .... yes, if there weren't travel agencies and an insane amount of tourists everywhere (especially backpackers, for whom, in my opinion, life here is too expensive, coffee 3.50, food between 10 and 15 EUR without drinks, beer 3.50 EUR).
It is also striking that there are lots of free-roaming dogs here and they are not dachshunds.... I know some people in my circle of acquaintances for whom that wouldn't be suitable….
The preparations for tomorrow are underway. Buenas Noches

Also pictures of the "treasure". The packing lists of the backpackers recommended taking a combination lock and tying the suitcase and in fact: combination lock around the suitcase and the suitcase itself locked and the whole thing is relatively safe, at least it can't be simply carried away.
