Gorgeous Gorges

Last night we got a 4WD for today to explore the gorges of the Flinders Ranges. A good decision, because today was another real highlight! The last few days here have been above average, but today was the crowning glory. We drove many kilometers because the interesting spots are not very close together, but we also saw a lot of fascinating things. Because we started so early and the weather was so amazing today, we also visited some places again. In the morning sun, it looked much better in some places!

The main goals were the Bunyeroo, Brachina, and Parachilna Gorge. You drive through all three by car. You stop wherever you like, take a few steps, observe animals, etc., and then continue driving. They are all worth seeing, but Brachina Gorge has by far the most beautiful rock walls. You can stop and take photos at almost every bend! We also saw the rare Yellow Footed Rock Wallaby there. So cute sitting there on the rock face!

At noon, we stopped at the Prairie Hotel in Prachilna. Apart from being quite quaint, we had an unusual "Wild Plate" with kangaroo, emu, and camel. Birgit had a bit of trouble with the camel sausage, but otherwise, it was very tasty!
