It feels good to wake up and see the sun in the blue sky! Especially after two wet days and a cold night. We take it easy and give the sun time to warm up the air before we head to Bluff Knoll.
Bluff Knoll is the highest mountain in the Stirling Range and the most popular hiking destination in the national park. Although the sky is mostly blue, there are a few clouds hanging around the summit. As we make our way, we experience alternating cloudy and blue sky. The ascent is slightly longer and more physically demanding than the previous hikes, but relatively easy (except for steep steps). After about two hours, we reach the summit. The trail ends at a cliff edge, which drops vertically. If you have a fear of heights, it's better to keep your distance. Unfortunately, the visibility is not great at that time because it's not completely clear. Otherwise, you could not only see the entire range, but also the sea. Nevertheless, we still enjoy the dizzying situation up here.
Afterwards, we continue to Porongurup National Park. On the way there, we buy a bottle of wine from one of the winemakers along the route for dinner. As it gets cold again in the evening (13 degrees at 7pm), we enjoy our dinner in the camp kitchen next to the crackling fireplace. Outdoor campfires are unfortunately prohibited everywhere until the end of April due to the dryness.
