With Arizona we are now exploring the third state after California and Nevada.
We set off from Las Vegas in sunshine on a Saturday morning to the Colorado River and reached it at probably the most spectacular dam, the Hoover Dam (built in 1931). This huge dam produces electricity using hydroelectric power from the Colorado River. It is led over huge electricity pylons to Las Vegas, among other places, where it is sent into the sky in an equally powerful light emission.
Then we drove across the border into Arizona in the early afternoon and along the highway to Williams. We crossed bizarre landscapes, climbed up to 1500 m, saw native settlements and drove for hours through the prairie landscape that makes up the Wild West. And yes, we are in the Wild West. This is WILD here.
We drove to Williams and are on the famous Route 66. We looked for a parking space in Williams and will drive from here to the Grand Canyon tomorrow.
