Before I come to BKK: Saying goodbye to my dear family in Nepal today was not easy for me...

In the morning, we cooked Momos together, which was a great experience and a very nice ending. After that, I had to go to the airport and shed a few tears. Actually, I didn't want to cry again today, because I already cried twice the day before. Once when I said goodbye to the kids and the teachers at school (big cuddle round with the children and me in the middle) and then in the evening when I gave my family a small farewell gift (a gift basket with things they like and flowers for the garden - which, however, seemed very measly to me compared to their hospitality...). But when the tears came to Uroma while saying goodbye today, I had to cry again. I will really miss them (especially Jenika, whose laughter echoed through the house at five in the morning), but it is also nice to know that I will always be welcome there and now also have a family in Nepal. And I will definitely come back again :)

At the airport, I noticed that I am no longer so nervous about the rest of the journey. Although I will be traveling around a lot more now and no longer have fixed points of reference or people in the country. Even though I had my family in Nepal as a big safety factor, I have become quite a bit braver and many worries have vanished into thin air. So I started a new part of my journey with a lot of anticipation and great curiosity!

And now finally to Bangkok!

I haven't seen much yet because I didn't leave the airport until 8 p.m. But you can already tell when you arrive that Bangkok is a modern and bustling city that is home to a large middle and upper class.

My taxi driver was great. I'm not exactly sure how blind he is, but he definitely couldn't see very well anymore. After I had to read him the address of the hostel because he couldn't read it even when enlarged, and after two failed attempts, I had to enter the hostel's phone number into his phone, I became a bit skeptical. In the taxi, he then tried to read the time from his watch until I told him what time it was so that he could concentrate on the road again. But amazingly, he drove pretty well. Maybe it was because it was already dark and he could locate the other cars by their lights... Anyway, he brought me to the hostel safely. By the way, it's quite nice here. Very modern and clean, with a chill lobby and a rooftop terrace, and in the dorm rooms, there's a curtain in front of each bed, so you also have a bit of privacy.

I immediately went in search of something to eat and walked along the street where my hostel is located. I was immediately thrilled because there are countless street food stalls on every corner here. Almost all of them specialize in some kind of food, and you simply put together your meal from several small dishes. I had everything packed up (which is normal here) and took it back to the hostel. On the way home, I also met the nice owner of a small supermarket, who recommended a great beer to me. Plus, everything is super cheap here. I paid a total of 100 Baht (about 2.50€) for my meal (main course and dessert).

I'm very excited to see what awaits me tomorrow. I definitely won't starve here :)
