Even though university is starting to get stressful, we don't miss the chance to do as much as possible on weekends. Armed with study materials (which we usually never read), we went to San Diego for two days!
What Google Maps said could be a two-hour drive turned into three due to typical American traffic. But before checking into the hostel, we made a detour to La Jolla Cove, famous for its seals lounging on the rocks right next to the tourist beach. We could actually observe the animals from a few meters away, seemingly unbothered and lazily enjoying the sun.
Once in San Diego, we set out on foot to explore: passing by the baseball stadium hidden among the skyscrapers and the Gaslamp Quarter, filled with small restaurants and shops perfect for strolling. We continued walking to the harbor, where luxury yachts lined up. To get a view of the city from above and watch the sunset, we took the elevator to the 40th floor of the Sky Lounge in the Hyatt Hotel.
The next day, we drove to Coronado Island, getting a good view of the San Diego skyline while crossing the bridge. Like downtown San Diego, Coronado is incredibly clean and beautifully designed with green spaces, palm trees, and charming houses.
We then continued our trip with visits to Balboa Park, a mall, Pacific Beach, and finally, Sunset Cliffs, where we watched the sunset. And then it was time to head back to beautiful Fullerton.
