Day 13. & 14. On the way to Florence

So now it starts, off to Florence.

Quickly have breakfast in the camper van and onto the motorway towards Florence.

Everyone wants to leave the city for the long weekend towards the sea. The motorway towards Florence is empty. 😃 And the traffic in the city is negligible. We drive to the campsite of our choice, right on the Arno river and only about 6 km from the center. Not quite cheap but we stood for free the past few days.

We quickly got the family ticket and off to Florence. Family ticket: €6 for the whole family and valid until midnight.

After a little stroll through one of the most beautiful cities on this planet, we decide that it's time for lunch and if anyone wants to go to Florence, please read carefully 📖.

Walk to Piazza San Lorenzo and go to the market hall there. Go up to the first floor and now it's time to enjoy the delicious treats available there. 😊 From all kinds of sweets, to pasta 🍝, burgers 🍔, specialties from Tuscany and, by the way, what we believe is the best pizza 🍕 in the world 🌎.

So please, please, if you ever happen to be in Florence, go there for a meal, you won't regret it.

In the afternoon, the standard sights are visited.

We decided to walk back.

After an exhausting day, we're back at our motorhome, quickly eat something and then off to bed.

Today is Saturday and, by the way, as we later learned from Riccardo, it's Dante Alighieri's birthday 🎉.

In the morning, I quickly rode my bike into the city, there's almost no better way to explore a city than in the morning, when it's still quiet, by bike 🚴!

Later in the day, we'll drive back to Empoli, where we'll start at 6:30 tomorrow morning.
