2nd day in Seattle (Finally with pictures :-D)

بڵاوکراوەتەوە: 27.09.2018

The United States are really good to us, we have the most beautiful sunshine again today and pleasant 20 degrees Celsius.

This time we have breakfast in our accommodation. There is toast with jam and fresh fruit as well as freshly brewed coffee.

Since we can experience a lot with our CityPass, today's program includes the remaining attractions. More on that later in the text.

Our first destination on this day is Pike Place Market. It opened in 1907 and has been in continuous operation ever since. In 2018, we are among the 10 million visitors who visit the market annually.

It is divided into several levels. On the first/uppermost level, there are stalls selling fruits, vegetables, meat, and fish. The most famous is probably the fish stand. If you buy fish there, they will even throw a fish directly to you.

On the lower levels, you can find souvenir shops, various handicraft shops where producers sell their products directly, cafes and restaurants, and a comic book store.

Since Seattle is very hilly, we have to go down a lot of stairs to reach our second destination, the Seattle Aquarium.

The Aquarium in Seattle

The aquarium is small but nice with enough space for the marine creatures living there. The main focus is on local residents. These include octopuses, salmons, sea otters, jellyfish, and seals.

There are also extraordinary fish from the Caribbean and Hawaii.

At the aquarium, we were able to witness a fish feeding and an otter feeding. It was very impressive to see how cleverly the otters cracked the shells to get to the meat.

After visiting the aquarium, we took advantage of the last attraction included in the CityPass.

The one-hour harbor tour showed us the city from the water once again. The container port with the loading of one of the largest container ships in the world was very impressive. We were not prepared for the cold sea breeze. We 'escaped' from the upper deck to the completely sheltered lower deck, where we could still enjoy the view just as well.

After docking, it was finally time for Flo's highlight of the city. The visit to Century Link Field, the home of the Seattle Seahawks.

Unfortunately, we could not visit the stadium, but we walked around it and took some pictures.

After the walk, we got hungry, but where to have dinner?

After a long search, we finally found 'Zócalo', a Mexican restaurant. All the tacos were gluten-free because a good Mexican always makes their tacos with corn flour.

Then came our departure day. We had a relaxed breakfast and packed our suitcases. The next blog will continue with our journey to New York City.
