We are getting back to you once again before heading back home early in the morning tomorrow. Nänz is currently packing suitcases, a 'my goodness it's full' is followed by the obligatory weight check. The biceps only burn after a few seconds - it should be less than 30kg - test passed! Fortunately, all clothes, souvenirs and mementos for you can stay in it.
'Small islands' describes our last day trip from Koh Chang very well. Captain Yum took us back on board and took us to Koh Mak. The slightly small engine ran for 1.5 hours and for a short moment we felt reminded of our experience with Marcus on the Müritz with a few waves starting to appear. But boat captain Yum had everything under control and we crossed over smoothly. The travel guides we read described the island as an absolute paradise. However, Yum stayed in the boat. A bit overwhelmed by the beauty of the beach we headed to, we didn't think too long about it, then got acquainted with the jellyfish in the water and quickly sat back in the boat. Yum explained to us that he couldn't understand why we chose Koh Mak in particular. Living local knowledge is often better than paper travel guides. Afterwards, we visited two more uninhabited and really beautiful islands. Snorkeling, fishing, collecting seashells - sometimes you just don't need more on some days. On one island, we found a washed-up and slightly battered hat. The captain gladly accepted it, never took it off afterwards, and reciprocated with a freshly picked, organically farmed, and very delicious organic coconut.
Two days and a Christmas dinner later, we reached Bangkok. We were back in the megacity that we still don't really know what to make of. There's just almost too much to discover, numerous contrasts, and always a bit of haze over the rooftops and around the skyscrapers. There were no concrete plans, but some ideas. You will get some impressions from the pictures, we will tell you everything else during the upcoming slide show at home. ;) The Executive Lounge calls for the last time with free cocktails and all kinds of delicacies...
We are looking forward to seeing you and our animals at home,
Nänz and Ben
