After the shock last night, we first went to the supermarket and bought 'comfort food' (Spaghetti Bolognese) and beer and sparkling wine. Amazing how a little alcohol can make everything seem better... 😉
We have rented the amazing (let's not talk about the price) apartment for another 2 days and feel very comfortable here. The view of the sea directly from the terrace is really fantastic!
We started the day with sleeping in and a leisurely breakfast (no, I'm not going to tell you that we left the coffee we bought in Melbourne and had to go out and buy coffee powder again before breakfast... 😝), and then (after the sun finally came out) drove leisurely to Apollo Bay.
The route was relatively short (just under 1 hour drive without stops) and yet super satisfying. There were surfers to watch again and... drumroll... well, who can guess... KOALAS! Yes, really: in Kennet River, we saw some (probably with the help of Lonely Planet) of these sleepy koalas with their beautiful fluffy ears 😍 and on the way there, we saw some more, this time almost within reach... ooooh, I love koalas...! I have to write the word again, koalas... koalas, fluffy-eared koalas (oops, now I've written koalas several times - did you know how much I love them? No? I love koalas).
In Apollo Bay, there wasn't anything really interesting for us, but there was beach gawking and delicious mango smoothie, iced coffee, and espresso (Matthes is really enjoying himself here). Oh, and I also got myself a sun hat there - I look like an Asian tourist with it, but it doesn't matter, because I'll need it at Uluru... and it doesn't really spoil a pretty person... 😂
On the way back to the super apartment in Lorne, we took a spontaneous trip to Sheoak Falls. A short walk into a little valley - beautiful!
In the evenings, we brought the balcony furniture out onto the terrace and welcomed the end of the work day with red wine and beer (there was still some left from yesterday). Oh, it's so nice here!
