16.11.
The past few weeks haven't really gone as I imagined.
Nevertheless, it couldn't have gone better for me. After a week in the hostel in Whistler, I had already had enough of the slightly sleepy ski resort at that time.
No snow, but lots of rain. No tourists, but lots of seasonal workers looking for accommodation and jobs. If the search for a long-term, affordable place to stay was complicated in Vancouver, it felt impossible to find something good to live in Whistler. So I made plans to start in Vancouver. I received help from an acquaintance I went to school with, who happened to be looking for an apartment in Vancouver at the same time. We decided to look for an apartment together. In the end, we found one in the West End of Vancouver, comparable to the West End of Frankfurt, and for November we live in the trendiest part of the city in our own small apartment at a fair price. It's a 5-minute walk to the beach and almost everything else is within walking distance. No comparison to my previous places of residence in Vancouver.
I also found a good job. I now work full-time as a "Busser" at Steamworks, a restaurant that brews its own beer and can accommodate 500 guests.
A sweaty but fun job where I earn decently well.
Currently, I am once again looking for a roof over my head for the next few months, as I will likely stay in Vancouver for the winter.
Kind regards from the West Coast 🤙🏽
