Today we're living the day without a plan: we're frolicking around, doing laundry (which still has sand in it even after washing), cleaning our camper (which has sand everywhere), emptying our toilet, filling our water tank, taking a well-deserved shower after 5 days in the wilderness, treating ourselves to a hearty breakfast with scrambled eggs and everything that goes with it. The kids want to go to the pool and the playground. Elija takes a nap in the stroller.
We book a boat tour to see the manta rays at the reception for tomorrow and extend our pitch for a third night here at Bayview.
In the afternoon, we head to the beach. Michi builds a sandcastle with the kids and I explore the Coral Bay reef. The corals here look completely different from those in Cape Range National Park. They somehow resemble oversized lettuce leaves. The reef is deeper here and more colorful. However, there are fewer fish. I spot two small blue-spotted stingrays in the sand. Michi isn't in the mood for snorkeling today. Samuel wants to go to the lookout platform. We watch the sunset from there.
Back at the campsite, we get seafood and pizza at the Seafood & Pizza restaurant. Conclusion: good, small, expensive!
Today is our first day where we didn't travel any distance with the camper. It was nice to take a break!
