With a 4-hour bus ride, I went to Burlington, Vermont. Many people have told me that Vermont is a small state but has very good and many breweries. In the top rankings of tastings in the USA, there is usually a brewery from Vermont.
After getting an incredibly good Double Bacon Cheeseburger with fries at Five Guys, I went to the agreed meeting point.
Manhattan Pizza&Pub (6th February):
1. Zero Gravity - Green State Lager 4.9%
Clear, very bitter, subtle hop aroma; like a slightly stuffed pilsner
2. Hill Farmstead - Edward 5.2% (American Pale Ale)
Very cloudy, very citrus-fruity, moderate bitterness
3. Fiddlehead - IPA 6.2%
Very cloudy, grassy-lemony, intense flavor of fresh harvest hops (lupulin)
4. Hill Farmstead - Double Nelson 8% (Imperial IPA)
Very cloudy, full throttle of the unique flavor of Nelson Sauvin hops
Then I brought my stuff to Katie. She is an old friend of Zach's, where I can stay for the next few days.
Mule Bar (6th February)
1. Zero Gravity - Bernie Weisse (Berliner Weisse-style Ale) 3.2%
Surprisingly close to the original sour beer from Berlin that I was able to try just a week before there (at Berliner Berg Brauerei & Stone Brewing Berlin). A bit too acidic, but pleasantly refreshing
2. Foundation - Moveable Type (Farmhouse Ale with Brettanomyces) 7.9%
Tastes interestingly like the typical aroma of Brettanomyces yeast. Very slim and dry due to a very high fermentation degree
3. Hill Farmstead - Double Galaxy (American Double IPA with Galaxy Hops) 8%
