We were only in Taiwan for a day as we had a long layover at the airport on our way to Vietnam. To pass the time and explore a tiny bit of Taiwan, we took the train from the airport to the city of Taipei.
First, we found a small restaurant on the street to have lunch and were laughed at by an elderly Taiwanese man because we couldn't hold the slippery rice noodles with chopsticks. He tried to explain how to hold them, but in the end, he could only shake his head... After what felt like eternity, we finished our meal and visited the Mengjia Longshan Temple, which is considered the oldest Buddhist temple in Taiwan, the old neighborhood where you can admire the old traditional architecture of Taiwan and some old pottery pieces, and the Medicine Road, where all kinds of herbs and potions are offered to cure all imaginable ailments, before we had to go back to the airport...
We've only heard the best things about Taiwan on our trip and we're sure it would be worth a visit - but this time, we didn't have time to experience more... Onwards to Vietnam!
