Didn't sleep all night. No idea why. Actually a beautiful atmosphere. The sounds of nature are nice to listen to. Eventually, donkeys walked past my bed more frequently, accompanied by soft human voices. A touch of mystique.
Our group started promptly at 5:45. It was just before sunrise. Today, the trails were only accessible for two-legged and four-legged donkeys 😅. We went up and down through the jungle. In between, we had 2 servings of delicious fruit. We reached a river where we could swim around 10:00. Simply delightful. You're always sweaty and your clothes don't dry here. After that, lunch and a 30-minute break. Then we went for it again. Steep climbs and I still had lunch in my stomach. Along the way, we also passed through a typical Indigenous village. However, they only come here for 2-10 days a year to hold ceremonies. The houses are made solely from natural materials in the area. We reached our overnight accommodation after 19 km. It was already buzzing with activity here. Farina and I preferred to swim in the river as the showers were occupied. Choosing a bed wasn't that easy either, but others had even more difficulty. Everything was a bit chaotic, but it is what it is. The communal meal was delicious again. For an appetizer, we had 2 wash basins of homemade popcorn.
Tomorrow, it's only about 2 km to Ciudad Peridad. Before that, we'll cross a river. And then there are still 1200 steps separating us from the big event. It's pouring rain at the moment. I hope it calms down by tomorrow because based on my advice, we didn't bring raincoats. Because you either sweat from the outside or inside. You'll always get wet. 😅
