Sjötorp

We set off towards the border of Norway after Stockholm. On the way, we don't miss the opportunity to visit the largest lake in Sweden, Vänern. We find a small campsite 'Askeviks' north of Sjörp and spend 4 nights here. During a walk in the forest, we finally see our first elk, even though it is made of wood and looks very dazed. A trip to Sjötorp is also a must, as it is located on the Göta Canal. The Göta Canal is almost 200km long and connects several lakes in Sweden. It is known for its many locks. In general, the town is rather small but very cozy and idyllic along the canal, which flows into Vänern.

At the exit of the town, we find a parking space where caravans are also allowed. It's not really a proper parking space, but rather a large field with no services. But for us, it's finally an opportunity to test our self-sufficiency properly. Rocky loves being able to move around freely and basking in the sun on his stomach. It feels like being alone, as only a few campers are scattered on the field. We spend a few nights here and meet up with the family again at the next stop.
