Day 237 Shwedagon Pagoda

A bɔra kɛnɛ kan: 29.11.2017

Today I caught up on what I missed yesterday. So after breakfast, I made my way to the pagoda. Since I liked the market so much yesterday, I decided to make another detour there today.

On the way to the pagoda, I passed by a smaller pagoda. Since I had time, I also visited this one.

Once again, I was approached by a local who wanted to show me the pagoda. He told me that this one is unique in Myanmar. No other pagoda has these drawings and decorations.

He has been studying Buddhism for a long time and is particularly interested in astrology. So he wanted to see my hand and showed me his skills in palmistry. According to my palm lines, my life will change at 45. Well, I still have a few years until then, so now it's about enjoying life until then. We thanked Buddha together before I made my way to the Shwedagon Pagoda.

Upon arrival at the pagoda, I paid the entrance fee and started the tour. There were so many tourists here, I wonder where they all came from. During my tour of the city yesterday, I hardly saw any other tourists. But they all seem to be here. The pagoda itself was very beautifully made, but there were simply too many people here for my liking, so I didn't spend much time here.

I then made my way back to the hostel, checked out, and spent the afternoon in the hostel lounge. It had started raining in the meantime. At half past 4, the taxi picked me up and took me to the bus terminal. Tonight, I'm taking the night bus to Inle Lake.
