Weekend in Darwin

A bɔra kɛnɛ kan: 20.05.2017

On Saturday, we both had the day off. We used the day off to renew our vehicle registration. You need an inspection for that, which is comparable to the TÜV in Germany. Padi already had that done on Friday during lunch break. So we only had to pay $705 for one year. The registration office / the 'TÜV' is valid for one year. The $705 includes liability insurance for personal injury. The amount is based on engine capacity and number of cylinders. We were very cheap with 2.8 liters engine capacity and 4 cylinders. Most people here drive 6 or 8 cylinders - sometimes costing more than twice as much.

After our lunch, noodles with bacon tomato sauce and tuna with salad, we went swimming in the pool. Later, we laid down at the waterfront to relax (5 minutes walking distance).

In the evening, we went to the Malak Market. Our lovely neighbor Remy took us there again. The market is quite small and cozy. Most of the exhibitors are farmers from the region. You can buy food and fresh groceries, and there is live music playing. We spent the whole evening there, eating and talking. Every other exhibitor offers gluten-free options, some even exclusively gluten-free. So we had a lot of choices! :) We decided on a paella with chicken wings and for dessert, fresh pineapple and a gluten-free brownie. We also bought some fruits to take home (cheaper than at the supermarket).

On Sunday morning, I had to work and then we went back to the pool.

I will write about news and details about our jobs in a separate entry.
