Since we were slowly running out of ideas for places to visit in and around Kandy, the owner of our accommodation gave us a few more tips. So today we drove to three temples located close to one another: Gadaladeniya Raja Maha Vihara, Sri Bodhirathna Rajaramaya, and Pamunuwa Sri Jayasumanarama Buddhist Temple.
The first temple cost 1,000 rupees to enter; the other two were free. There were many old paintings and sculptures to admire here. There were also two ponds with fish and frogs.
We skipped the second temple at first and walked to the third temple via a very quiet side street. Here there were many beautiful plants and rice fields to see, and a few cats that even wanted to be petted.
The temple complex isn’t particularly spectacular, but it’s quite nice to look at.
At the last temple of the day, construction work was underway and the dogs were quite territorial, so we decided to turn back.
On the way, we stocked up again on plenty of fruit and a few samosas for the evening, and then we headed back to our accommodation.
