Royal botanic gardens Peradeniya

Today we visited the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya, parts of which have existed since 1371. You can tell by the tall trees and other large plants. It is an 80-hectare site with various sections dedicated to ferns, orchids, succulents, a rose garden, trees, and more.

Here, we watched squirrels feasting on the fruits of the cannonball tree or darting through the various palm trees. We also saw a wide variety of birds, monkeys, and flying foxes.

The grounds are very well-maintained and definitely worth seeing. We spent three hours here but still didn’t see everything.
