A few years ago, we decided to move from Germany to Southeast Asia. We worked hard to put aside enough money and gathered information to find the right country.

In December 2024, we went on vacation to the Philippines and met a Swedish couple there who own a small resort. The place is located on Palawan, near Roxas, and is a little remote from major cities, but surrounded by nature and right on the beach.

Temperatures there range between 24 and 32 degrees Celsius year-round, and rainfall during the rainy season isn’t quite as heavy as in other areas.

The Swedes, Christian and Jhed, are building a small community with friends and, just like us, plan to move there in 2026. In 2025, they plan to build their house and some long-stay accommodations; we plan to rent one of them.

Until then, we want to sell some of our household items to make our start abroad easier. We were already able to sell some bikes, winter sports gear, etc., last year.

I’m still working on a list of what we’ll ultimately take with us.... definitely not winter clothes 😉.

We also want to work through our “bucket list” for Germany, meaning we still want to visit some sights and do some activities there. Of course, family and friends are also at the top of the list. We want to spend a lot of time with them.
