The last few days together in Lima

Nəşr edilmişdir: 20.12.2016

In a few days it's Christmas, which of course is also noticeable here. It blinks and glitters in every corner, people are in a shopping frenzy, and the radios are blaring the well-known Christmas songs. But we are not impressed by that and continue to go with the flow.

The days here in Lima are very cozy. We sleep in every day, have a good breakfast, and live in the moment. In the past few days, we have done a bit of exercise and always end the day with a beer scarf.

Now we have been here for almost a month and have settled in quite well! It already feels like home. We have so much time that we even come up with the idea of looking on the internet for things to do in Lima and yes, the goal of tonight is 'Parque de la reserva'. Turns out to be a really good decision. A park full of fountains, water spectacles, and abundance. With a beer for each of us, Iris, Ruben, and I sit on a free bench and admire the scene. Suddenly, the park gets very dark and the elongated fountain in front of us stops. Dramatic music starts playing and the water begins to dance. The water mist is illuminated with the most incredible light projections, and from one moment to the next, condors circle, snakes pass by, mountains pile up, the most incredible patterns emerge, and even a leopard sprints through the water. The three of us sit there with our mouths wide open and can hardly believe what is happening here - truly beautiful!

We continue to the other water attractions. Among other things, there is a walkable fountain that stops for a few seconds, during which you can move in or out - if you dare, a water tunnel, and yes, there are also some illuminated and sound-equipped water fountains. We end the evening with a leisurely walk.

Today, Sunday evening, is probably really the last evening we spend together with Iris, which is really sad.... Under the sign of 'the Last Supper', we make our way to Barranco, our favorite district. Today, we're really treating ourselves. After walking around for a while, we decide to have lasagna, Caesar salad, and all of it in a super romantic atmosphere on a rooftop terrace with a sea view. Wow wow wow.

Let me tell you, we could still spend a few more months together hehe but well, that's life! Considering that we didn't originally plan to travel together, we ended up having five beautiful months filled with adventures that we experienced together!

Iris is heading north, with her first destination being Huanchaco, where our adventure began. She will surely tell us how it goes from there.

Monday morning means getting up early. We are already on our way to the bus station at half-past seven, and tiredness is written all over our faces. Buy a ticket, another coffee scarf, and then it's time to say goodbye. Iris walks through the 'check-in' and I have to say, a tear escapes me. It's really sad when after 150 days of sharing days and nights, you part ways. But the beautiful thing is, for both of us, it's the start of a new journey, jichhaaaa!
