Krabi - Ao Nang - Railay Beach

After 2 long weeks, we finally have an update from us.

On 19.10.18 we started from Koh Lipe towards Krabi. The journey started with a speedboat ride back to the mainland. From there, we drove about 3 hours north until we finally reached Krabi. Here we had our accommodation, about 15 minutes from Ao Nang Beach.

In the first few days, we explored the beach and the many small shops and restaurants in the area and just relaxed.

Our first excursion was with one of the famous longtail boats to the famous Railay Beach. This beach is known for its white sandy beach, turquoise water, and the huge rocks that stand individually from the sea. Patrick climbed directly to the higher viewpoint on one of the mountains at Railay Beach to take some great pictures and videos. Verena and Ben had some time to explore the beautiful beach. Railay Beach consists of 3 different beaches, all of which are very beautiful. The most beautiful beach for us was Phra Nang Beach. Here you can see many climbers on the rock walls that separate the 3 beaches from each other.

One of our next destinations was the Tiger Cave Temple, which is located outside of Krabi. Since we didn't want to go on one of the guided tourist tours, we decided to go there on our own. So we rented a scooter from our hotel and drove about 40 minutes to the temple complex. After a few intersections and some time to get used to it, we got the hang of driving on the left side of the road in Thailand ;-). When we arrived at the temple complex, we started our climb up the mountain where the actual temple was. There was only one staircase with 1237 steps leading up to the temple. These steps were partly steep and not really pleasant to climb. We struggled our way up to the summit within half an hour, arriving sweaty and out of breath. The view from up there is something very special, which cannot necessarily be said of the temple itself. Of course, it's mega impressive how the monks were able to build this temple on top of the mountain, but there are much more impressive temples in Thailand.

To do something for Ben as well, we visited a small amusement park next. Again, we went there by scooter. It must be said that you must not expect European standards here. It was a pretty small, but nicely laid out park, with some rides. Unfortunately, in addition to the entrance fee, you also had to pay extra for each carousel, etc. Some of the carousels were manually operated :-D. We had hoped for a little more, but Ben enjoyed it.

Unfortunately, after 4 weeks of staying, we experienced the lack of hygiene in Thailand for the first time. Ben was the first of us to get food poisoning. Probably from the fruit we bought along the way. After an unpleasant night in a Thai hospital, he had already recovered the next day and was cheerful and in good spirits. Thanks God! But both of us were also hit about a week later. We both fought with nausea and vomiting for one night. The next day we were exhausted and tired, but we have recovered well since then and are back in good shape. However, we are now a bit more careful in choosing our food.

On Friday, 11/02/18, we left our accommodation in Ao Nang to make our way to Phuket.
