Did you know that Portugal is an asshole? I wanted to go to Fatima. And then take a taxi to Grutas Mira Daire. Apparently, there was a train connection to Fatima. That's what I thought. But when I got off at "Fatima", I was in a small humble town. 25km away from the city of Fatima... Why do they name the stupid train station the same as the city? It only causes confusion. Yes, it's my fault, but still, it's annoying!
Since I didn't want to waste the day, I just took a taxi to Fatima. In Fatima, there is the Sanctuary of Fatima, which is a church.
After seeing it, I thought the trip was worth it. It's really huge and beautiful. Unfortunately, I couldn't do much else that day because I still had to go to Porto. So I took a taxi back to the train station. (I didn't understand the bus connections) That cost me a total of 50€.😖
Once I was in Fatima, I didn't do much except look around, check-in, and have a very good steak for dinner. Porto looked very beautiful at first glance!
So the next day, I took a closer look at everything. I visited churches, gardens, Matosinhos beach, and other things. I have to say, everything is very very beautiful. Of course, the city is crowded and has its downsides, but I really liked it. Only the sidewalks are nicer in Lisbon and Coimbra. But again, it's ups and downs. I especially want to highlight the view of Porto from the Ponte Dom Luís I bridge. Very beautiful!
On the second day, I did a sightseeing bus tour that was not worth it, and then I visited the Museum World of Discoveries. It was a museum about the maritime history of Portugal. It was really well done.
I also tried Francesinha, a Portuguese specialty. Well, more from Porto. It's a sandwich made with toast bread, cooked ham, Linguiça (sausage), grilled beef topped with cheese and covered with a tomato-beer-mustard sauce.
Today, I had to do laundry for the first time, and it was annoying, but well, obviously I'll have to do it throughout the whole trip.
And here's another stupid story: Both today and yesterday morning, a roommate's alarm clock rang at 7 o'clock (but it was different people), and they only turned it off after half an hour. It makes you sick!
But tomorrow, I'll continue to Lisbon😊
