My longest drive in one go in New Zealand.
From Greytown, I continued heading north towards Napier and Hastings. The route itself is not very exciting. There are mainly fields and forests. Mountains and valleys and especially some beautiful serpentines. Otherwise, it is very flat.
In Woodville, there was a little stopover, also because Vicki said one should have a look at the place, mainly because of all the antique shops. Otherwise there is nothing there.
I still wonder who goes shopping there, as there is no bigger city anywhere nearby. Nevertheless, I walked around and looked at the shops. Very interesting. I briefly considered renting a container, buying all the beautiful things, and then shipping them to Germany. But I decided against it and continued towards Napier.
I arrived in Napier late Sunday afternoon.
What a beautiful city. It calls itself the Art Deco city with beautiful buildings.
On Sundays, everyone is out and about here. Especially vintage car owners are dressed according to the age of their cars and offer tours with them. This naturally attracts many tourists, so I quickly fled and drove back to Hastings, where I had booked accommodation for two nights.
Napier is not everything! Because here is also the Hawke's Bay wine region. A good reason to stay a bit longer.:-)
