The bike paths continue through the country with the same style and comfort. Riding a bike is completely relaxing. In many areas, bicycle traffic is separated from vehicle traffic and pedestrians. However, there are also large numbers of cyclists on the move. Exciting are intersections of double bike lanes from multiple directions with the right-before-left rule. So far, everything has worked well.
As pedestrians, we have not yet had enough practice to keep an eye on the strictly separated usage areas. Pedestrians can sometimes really get the short end of the stick. However, the Dutch are familiar with their system and keep everything in view.
In Amersfoort, we visited the National Memorial Kamp Amersfoort. Another memorial to World War II. The memorial consists of an outdoor area and an underground museum section.
There is information about the camp's structure, its significance in World War II, interviews with former prisoners, detailed individual portraits of key figures (soldiers and prisoners). Very exciting and movingly documented. Unfortunately, the panels in the outdoor area are not all available in English.
Information about the memorial can be found here.
