WEST COAST TRAVELING

Wɔatintim: 09.07.2018

After an intense farewell from our friends and Geraldton, we continue on the North West Coastal Highway heading north on endless long straight roads that never seem to end but through very green landscapes with steaks (as Kira likes to say to the cows), emus, and kangaroos. We come across breathtaking cliffs at Kalbarri National Park with huge waves and humpback whales appearing in the distance. Wow!!!!!!! In Kalbarri National Park, there are the typical Australian red rock formations. At one point, they even form a natural window, 'nature's Window', spectacular. At Shellbeach (consisting only of thousands of small white shells, no trace of sand), it was very difficult for our girls not to take a single shell.

Finally, we approached Monkey Mia and were looking forward to taking a shower at the caravan park and to the upcoming morning visit of the dolphins right on the beach. Unfortunately, we had to realize with regret that the camping was closed due to renovations and the dolphin visit would not take place at the moment. Nonetheless, we made our way to the beach and with great joy, we saw a group of about 20 dolphins frolicking about 20 meters from the shore. It was difficult to photograph them, they are simply too fast. Just before it got dark, we finally found a beautiful spot in the Outback at Big Lagoon.
