Lamru National Park

Wɔatintim: 28.02.2018

Just near our hotel was the Lamru National Park. We had already visited it during our first stay, but we wanted to take another trip to Small Sandy Beach there.

Better prepared!

This time, knowing what was coming, we set off on foot with decent footwear. We just had to follow the road. From the bridge, we had a nice view of the beach again. It occurred to me that I had seen a video from this exact spot where locals saw the tsunami approaching in 2004...a strange feeling!

And another jungle hike...

Upon arriving at Lamru National Park, we only had to pay the 100 Bhat fee and then we made our way through the jungle to the beach. Although we knew there was a much more direct path to the beach, we wanted to take the jungle route again. During the march, I often wondered why exactly we had chosen this torment but now it was too late. I was already sweating from every pore. At least we had proper shoes this time. Last time, we walked along here in flip flops, thinking the path wasn't long. Horrible! At least we could enjoy the view from the View Point again.

Land, uh...beach in sight!

Since we knew the length of the path by now, it didn't seem as long as last time. Finally, the beach came into view, completely drenched. There, we settled down again. What immediately struck us was that it was much busier compared to last time. Not completely crowded, by no means. But two years ago, we had the beach completely to ourselves. Today, there were a few other people there and later even a tour group marched in. You could tell that the main season was slowly approaching. The beach had somehow lost the tranquility of last time. In general, I had the impression that this spot had been much more beautiful, maybe it was just the fascination of the first time? Or was it simply because there were more people here than last time? Maybe it was just the weather. It wasn't great again. Somehow, it was quite cloudy that day, so the whole scenery looked a bit bleak.

Anyway, we spent several hours here until we took the easy way back to the road and from there, we took a taxi back to our place.
