Landed in Bangkok in the morning, we went straight to the big bus station and then straight towards Island Happiness. We escaped the cold of the continental autumn here, because at around 30 degrees it is nice and warm and cozy and tropical even at the end of the normal season. Our first destination was Koh Chang, one of the large islands in the very east of Thailand near the Cambodian border. At the very end of the island we moved into a bungalow on the beach for a few days and took a close look at the water, weather and waves 😊 or just did nothing.
But in the end we weren't really good at it, so we went snorkeling, went on a moped and of course went to a waterfall. Waterfalls just have to be because they are beautiful, usually incredibly cool and often involve a lot of climbing, so they are exactly our thing.
We also wanted to discover the neighboring island of Koh Kood, where pure peace and quiet awaited us and we mostly had the beach all to ourselves. Here we have also expanded our ability to “fall over with the moped” and can now offer good performance on slippery clay and algae-covered concrete. Since we already have an amazing pharmacy of local pastes, the green paste was able to quickly deal with the small wounds. We're not here for fun, it's a learning experience - it's better to run the last few meters.
Now we are in Trat, a lovely little town on the border with Cambodia and tomorrow we continue…
Best spot: Hammock by the sea
Don't do it: Sit on the beach and let sand flies bite you (pink paste helps here)
Must do: Eat at the fisherman's little shack, barracuda is amazing
