Arrival at the farm (09.07.2018)

Wɔatintim: 09.07.2018

Now already the third day, on which I am traveling.

During breakfast, I had a nice conversation with the other German guests whom I met yesterday, and then we all went in different directions.

I packed my things and checked out of the cute house with a heavy heart. However, I decided to leave my car there and explore Lund a bit more. Since I only had to arrive at the farm at 1 PM, where I will be working for the next three weeks, I still had some time.

Since I had already seen most of the things, like the botanical garden, the cathedral, and the university, last year during my visit to Lund, this time I wanted to find other attractions. So I visited the city park and the All Saints' Church of Lund. Time flew by and I had to go back to my car.

The twenty-minute drive to the farm, which is located a bit outside of Lund, went well and without incidents.

Upon arrival, I introduced myself and was able to move into my room for the next three weeks. Shortly after, there was a meeting with the couple who runs the farm, about the work that needs to be done and the schedule, which I can determine myself. And then the work started... However, since it was already afternoon, today I only had to clean the horse stables and pick the ripe cherries. After dinner, I had my free time.

I found the farm on workaway. There, farms from all over the world are registered where you can work as a volunteer. For the work, you get food and accommodation.

For me, this was a good option to get to know the country and its people better and to learn the language. I hope that at the end of the three weeks, I can say that this was a great experience and that I have acquired new language skills that I can use on my further travels.
