Our destination this year is Bali. The Indonesian island in the Indian Ocean offers plenty of temples, great beaches, tropical climate, and breathtaking nature. It is also a foodie paradise, which particularly excited the tour guide long before the departure. Our travel group consisting of Nadi and me, along with our 3 kids who have now become teens. This was expanded by our good friends Manu & Dirk.
The 'Lucky Number Seven' are finally on tour. The BER airport, which famously became a reliable starting point for travel-hungry people in 'record time,' is our gateway to the world this year. After overcoming the security check and the duty Berlin baggage inspector at the luggage control, there was another double-check by the federal police...the son carries his mother's last name, which led to uncertainty. Is there a child abduction here?! Luis could convincingly assure that he enjoys traveling with the seniors and the rest of the group. Issue resolved. Security concerns everyone after all.
The first leg of our journey took us to Doha, quick plane change at 45 degrees Celsius, and onward to Denpasar. Touch down after 16 hours of travel time - that was a relief. Side note: Qatar Airways rightfully belongs to one of the best airlines in the world. Service, space, and meals are very good in comparison.
Komang, our driver, was already waiting at the airport and transported us to our hotel in Seminyak. The hotel complex consists of a few bungalows built in a traditional style and arranged around a beautiful pool.
The first two days are about settling in, acclimatizing, and chilling by the pool before some tours with Komang are on the agenda starting Wednesday. So far so good...
I'll keep you updated!
