All day overcast
In the morning, we still grumble a little about the deficiencies in the apartment, and it's gray outside. However, despite the old hotplate, the apple pancakes taste delicious. But as we drive towards Lemmenjoki National Park, we are in the mood to immerse ourselves in the movies of Aki Kaurismäki, we understand the Finnish blues.
When we arrive at the national park, our sense of life is significantly lifted.
We hike on a path that always runs above the Lemmenjoki River.
The first kilometers are on a kind of educational trail, where information boards provide information about geology, i.e. the Ice Age, the history of the area, and reindeer hunting. We walk on a ridge, partly accompanied by lakes or the river.
The hiking trail stretches for 5 km, but it is easy to walk, no comparison to the Norwegian climbing paths.
We reach a campsite where we meet three Finns who are cycling. They have already lit a fire in the barbecue oven and invite us to join them.
We chat a little in English, after half an hour the three move on and we have the fire to ourselves. It is very cozy, quiet, peaceful, we feel very comfortable and watch the flames.
The return journey is faster, surprisingly. We still take a little detour back to the river that we didn't see on the way there.
After a total of 5 hours, we return to the car, follow the signs for a coffee, and have one there along with a piece of blueberry cake. (see above photo)
