The second part of our journey is already over. The 6 weeks in New Zealand were impressive, exciting, and very diverse. We saw lonely beaches, glaciers, volcanoes, rainforests, and many seals. We traveled with a camper, hitchhiking, the Kiwi Bus, and a small campervan.
Our highlight was the South Scenic Route that led through the Catlins. It's a region where not so many tourists get lost and the nature is breathtaking. We liked New Zealand a bit better than Australia because everything is a bit more uncomplicated, especially when camping. If you are self-contained (own toilet), you can simply stop and stay at the most beautiful places. There are also many DOC or private camps that are not parceled, and you can simply park the campervan at the most beautiful spot.
Now we are looking forward to first spending some beach holidays in Thailand, before we start exploring Southeast Asia. :)
