We're in New Zealand and we have a car!
As some of you already know, we found a van right at the beginning in Auckland, New Zealand...
How?
Here, the demand for vans is so high that there are even van markets. Of course, dealers and travelers sell all sorts of things here, even with mold on the ceiling...
How did we find our baby?
Andreas sold THE MACHINE (it just climbs up the mountain!) here... Thanks again for everything!
How to pimp my car?
- General cleaning
- Cutting existing bed into two parts = two benches and a bed at the same time
- Stapling PVC in wood optics = clean floor + alpine hut feeling
- Build a kitchen in the back: have wood cut at the hardware store, cut the rest yourself and screw it together
- Furnish: refrigerator, bed covers, Christmas decorations, lights, garment boxes, plastic plant, spice rack...
How long did it take?
We bought it on the 2nd day. We converted it in three days.
Cost?
$4000 for the van (the self-contained story already costs $800) 2400€
$1000 for new tires, jump starter, conversion, and equipment. 600€
Let's go to the north of the North Island with our new tiny home! (actually micro-home)
