August 2022. It's summer and hot. Really hot.
What better way to cool off than at the North Sea coast with a constant breeze. We need relaxation and different impressions from everyday life to get our minds off things. We just had to bury our dog, who has been with us for over 17 years. A long time.
In addition, we are planning a huge renovation with necessary refurbishment of our own four walls in the next few months. It will require a lot of money and a lot of effort.
So what could be better than spontaneously getting in the camper van to relax for a few short days, enjoy the sun and the sea. Take a walk. Relax. Recharge.
All of this is what we hope for here in Neuharlingersiel at the campsite, where we have booked a spot at short notice for a few days. And we are not disappointed. Of course, the weather also plays a role. The sun is shining. There is always a fresh breeze, sometimes stronger, sometimes weaker.
We are enjoying the time. It's beautiful here. View the North Sea from the dike. Benches are available everywhere. It's only a few minutes walk from here to the town and the picturesque harbor. Fridays are market days here. Fresh fish, bread, vegetables. Everything your heart desires. We let ourselves drift, watch the travelers at the nearby ferry port. Enjoy a fish sandwich or an ice cream. Admire the old fishing boats. Explore the old harbor. We keep discovering new things. Although there are plenty of holiday homes or apartments here, the tourist crowds thin out. It's cozy here at the old harbor. A café here, a small restaurant there, a bakery, an ice cream parlor, a stand with freshly made fish sandwiches. We let our soul dangle. Next door, at the ferry port, a ferry from Spiekeroog has just arrived. There are busy people with colorful suitcases and a lot of luggage. And yet, the tranquility and coziness that this place radiates is good for us.
We have recovered and unfortunately have to go back.
It's beautiful here. We will gladly come back.
