From the end of the Great Ocean Road to Adelaide, we leave the tourist crowds behind and drive through much sparser landscapes and a few smaller towns connected by seemingly endless straight roads - this is what you imagine Australia to be like. We hike in the Grampians and let ourselves be carried along the coast.
A highlight on the route is a visit to an open-air museum where a village from the gold rush era has been rebuilt. We feel like we've stepped into a time machine and been catapulted back 100 years, a very interesting and fun experience.
Adelaide presents itself to us in the best possible way, we explore the city for three days in glorious sunshine. We particularly like the many parks around the city center, where we can retreat to between museum visits, going to the cinema, and shopping.
