Officially, wake-up time is 08:00, but our body clock wakes us up at 05:30. However, we stay in bed a little longer and fall asleep again. Since we have no groceries, we have breakfast at the restaurant. We order French Toast and let ourselves be surprised. It tastes good and gives us energy for the day. We drive to the ski resort (Fernie Resort) in 10 minutes by car (more on that later). We have already bought the tickets at home, but they still need to be picked up. We are somewhat surprised by the very elaborate control system. At the lower chair lifts, there are 2-3 people who scan and check the barcodes of the ski tickets with a handheld scanner...
We take the first chair lift and head towards Lizard Bowl. The ski area is divided into 5-6 bowls, which are terrain chambers between two hills. The first runs in this bowl don't blow us away. The snow is rather heavy, like in spring. The temperatures are also rather warm, as it is lightly raining in the lower part of the ski area. After trying out some paths and slopes, we go for lunch. Meanwhile, it has cooled down and light snowfall has started.
In the afternoon, we go to Timber Bowl, whose slopes are located slightly higher. And behold, we encounter softer - even powder snow. The special thing about skiing here is that there are no actual slopes, but only a few main runs, some of which are groomed. Otherwise, you can actually ski anywhere, except in a few closed areas. So we spend the afternoon in the Timber Bowl, skiing between the trees.
At four o'clock, we return to the car and start heading back. In Fernie, we still have to do some grocery shopping for our dinner - tonight we're having risotto and chocolate cream for dessert. Unfortunately, the expensive parmesan ruins the taste of our delicious risotto, as this cheese tastes anything but fine...
The chocolate cream turns out to be pudding, but it's still delicious.
We go to bed at half past nine, as we are quite tired...
Finally, guess which one is our car?
