The new week started with a great breakfast. There were fresh fruits, 6 different cereals, and eggs prepared in every possible way. After a refreshing meal, we got in the car to start the 15-20 minute drive to the KickingHorse ski resort. The car thermometer showed a pleasant -25 degrees Celsius in sunny weather. In the ski area itself, it was only -15 degrees Celsius... We took the gondola up to 2,300 meters, where we had a great view.
We ventured on the first descent, and at this point, let's take a look at the slope structure of the North American ski resorts. There are usually various bowls in these areas, and they have multiple slopes with different difficulty levels. All slopes and bowls have names, some of which are quite entertaining (like Feuz or Stairway to Heaven, and many more). Here is the trail map of KickingHorse.
Since everything off the slopes is already tracked, we switch from snowboarding or ski touring to alpine skiing before lunch. Today, we mostly ski on the partially wide slopes. We have lunch at the top of Eagle Eye. After lunch, we do another 2-3 runs before enjoying an après-drink at Eagle Eye with a great view. On the way home, we go shopping for groceries and dinner, as our wonderful accommodation is about 10 minutes by car from Downtown. At home, we relax in the hot tub with beer and music, despite the -15 degrees Celsius outside. Of course, we also make a snow angel, some do it voluntarily, others only in exchange for a beer service...
Now it's time to go to bed, as tomorrow we will continue to Lake Louise, our second-to-last ski resort.
