City of Angels

Ishicilelwe: 11.10.2018

Sunday, 07.10.18:

Today, we devoted ourselves entirely to the metropolis, or rather specifically visited a few obligatory tourist magnets that were important to us. Since we only had 1 day in L.A., we had to leave out a lot, but the most important things are doable: Hollywood/Walk of Fame, Griffith Observatory, Venice Beach, and the Santa Monica Pier.

First on the agenda was the Walk of Fame in Hollywood. For $20, we treated ourselves to a parking space right around the corner. We walked and walked along the street... mostly looking down, so as not to miss any important star. At a souvenir shop, I stocked up on some knick-knacks... then we kept marching... There were many stores along a section of the street, with loud music playing, superheroes you could take pictures with, and so on... but the rest of the street isn't as spectacular. After what felt like an eternity, we cut the walk short. No idea how much longer the path would have been... but it was enough for us.

Next Stop: Griffith Observatory

Not far from Hollywood Boulevard was Griffith Park. The road climbed up the mountain to the Griffith Observatory. The planetarium is known for its view of Los Angeles and Santa Monica. The visibility wasn't that great for us today, but we still had a nice view of the city.

After spontaneously deciding to drive down Mulholland Drive, we headed back to our hotel in Santa Monica. Parked the car, freshened up quickly, changed clothes... and off we went again. But from now on, all on foot. After a burger break, we strolled along the promenade to Venice Beach. It was lively and there was a lot to see. We arrived at the beach just in time for the spectacular sunset. We made our way back to Santa Monica by walking along the water, where the pier with a Ferris wheel, roller coaster, and various other rides, food stalls, and arcades invited us to marvel and linger. If you want peace and quiet, you're in the wrong place. We also saw a seal again. It was probably attracted by the bait fish of the anglers.

Best regards, Steffi

Wahnsinn, an wie viele Filmszenen man bei euren Fotos vom Pier erinnert wird... Und was für ein spektakulärer Sonnenuntergang!!!😍🌅
