The first 2 days on Koh Chang
Since I don't feel like writing much, there will mainly be photos!
Last but not least, something not so nice but worth mentioning. (If I had known that this was included in the island trip, I definitely wouldn't have booked it!): We (unfortunately) made a stop at a so-called "Elephant Camp". These were captive, tortured, suffering, mentally and physically ill elephants that were tied to the shortest chains I have ever seen. You could see the suffering of the animals in their eyes, confined in the narrowest of spaces, chained up, rocking back and forth with tics, just so that tourists can feed the "great baby elephants" with 1 banana for 100 Baht or ride on them. For 10 minutes of "fun". And people make money from it. They even tied the front legs of one elephant together so that he CANNOT walk. One of them lay down and couldn't get up because of the chains (see photo). It's simply cruel how humans treat animals. No animal should suffer like this, especially not such intelligent and majestic beings like elephants. (Not that animals in factory farming have it much better...). Anyway, I have decided to report this to an animal rights organization, even though I fear that it will not make a difference, because apparently there are such places scattered all over Thailand... it's heartbreaking!!
