Today we have a big trip to the Yemeni border, we drive past the beautiful Mughsail beach and climb the mountains, the road here is in perfect condition, but we overcome a big gradient, we go to the secluded last seaside village before the Dhalqut border, where there is a subtropical forest on the slopes of the mountains. On the way we pass two police checks, they take our passports and we have to wait, they are strict but kind.
In the village we look at the beach with the wreckage of an old Russian helicopter. There is one very old baobab tree near the sea cliff lookout and again camels. We drive through the forest on the road, which is quite rare here, and we meet small camel farms. We get back to the main road and 6km from the border with Yemen we turn back.
For swimming, we choose Fizayah beach, where a serpentine path leads with wonderful views and again camels graze here. The beach is nice, surrounded by rocks, but it is not deserted, there are several groups who apparently also came to look for a deserted beach. The waves here are the same as in Salalah, but there are rocks at the bottom, so it's not ideal for children, but they lasted many times longer than me. We're going back after dark.
