Foulain nach Langres

Langres is located two locks before the summit of the canal. Since there is still the 4820 m long Tunnel de Balesmes to pass through at the summit, we planned to dock a little earlier and moor in Langres.

The day begins as usual, the first officer makes coffee and prepares breakfast, the captain takes care of the engines. On this day, the sauerkraut yield was not particularly good. Our port engine complains three times a day, somewhere the impeller is drawing air.

Sauerkraut, we borrowed the term from the famous Sauerkraut Tour, but one could also believe that the naming of the Sauerkraut Route is derived from the loot that one unintentionally collects throughout the day.

In the afternoon of the previous day, there was a forecast for thunderstorms in the evening, so we put on our auxiliary cover. This turned out to be unnecessary, but it also needs to be removed again.

Now everything is ready and off we go to the second to last stage in the ascent of the Marne Tales.

We will reach Langres around 3:30 pm, shock, the harbor is the largest we have passed so far on the route, but it is full. Almost like at Everest Base Camp.

Nevertheless, we were lucky, in the end there was still a place for Gustav.

The port captain was also immediately on hand and we quickly lost our money. Then we were allowed to move Gustav a few more meters, after all, another boat was announced. Now we quickly made our escape, as we planned to explore the offer of the local Intermarché and Langres is known for its good cheese.

For dinner, we had leftovers from the past two days, potato salad and pasta salad, and the leftovers from the baguette also had to be disposed of.
