Day 30 - Glenelg

Ishicilelwe: 25.01.2023

25.01.23

With thin walls and noisy neighbors, we wake up at 7 a.m. We try to drown out the noise with an audio play. It works moderately well and we doze off for a bit.

Then we start refining our planned daily program, i.e. we try to find a cheap public transportation connection to Henley Beach - as suggested by Michi :)

We get ready and head to the Central Market. Yesterday's breakfast was so good that we want to repeat it today. Once we arrive, we stock up on croissants, rolls, pear-walnut yogurt, fruit cups, and the black elixir of life from different stands. Yiihaa.

Back in the Pokemon Room, we pack our backpack for an afternoon at the beach. Before we start, we also think about how we will get from Sydney to Brisbane after our Alice Springs trip. That is still open. We also make a quick phone call to the car rental agency in Alice Springs regarding the pick-up time.

We take bus J2 and ride for about 40 minutes to the beach. To pay, we simply tap our credit card on the scanner. No idea how much it will cost us. Once we arrive, we are surprised by a cool offshore wind. We walk along the beach towards Glenelg - on Michi's recommendation. We take a break in the middle to relax and read. After that, we walk for another 45 minutes to Glenelg and decide to look for our dinner here and maybe watch the sunset.

We keep an eye out for an Asian restaurant or take-away. We soon find one and order 2 dishes to take away. After a 15-minute wait, it's time. We're hungry and walk towards the beach. However, we are suddenly stopped by the take-away employee. She gave us the wrong bag. 5 minutes later, we walk the same path with the correct dishes without any interruption.

After a delicious dinner, we look for a little dessert. Finally, the first ice cream in 30 days :) Shortly afterwards, the sun begins its final descent. We enjoy the sunset amidst strong gusts of wind. It takes only 2 minutes and 28 seconds from when the first touch of the horizon until the last ray disappears.

We take the tram back to the city center and look forward to a warm shower.
