After receiving the rejection from the farm in Taupo on Monday, we sat in the library and immediately looked for alternatives. Later that same day, we spoke on the phone with a nice woman from a farm in Cambridge and arranged a meeting for the next day at 12 o'clock. So the following day, we set off on time after an hour and a half drive through fog like we had never experienced before - in the middle of nowhere. We were warmly greeted by Lyn - the woman we spoke with on the phone - and her husband Bruce. Over tea and delicious cheese and ham sandwiches, we talked about the tasks on the farm. Satiated, we then took a look at the - admittedly really large - farm. Bruce briefly explained some basics about milking and asked if we could imagine working here. Then we looked at our accommodation. A simple hut with a small bathroom and a kitchenette. But we have to use our mattress from the car to sleep. After we looked at everything, we went back to the main house, ate cake, talked about the pay, and agreed that we can start working next Monday (23.07.).
