On Sunday, I set off to see the first sights and walked along the Singapore River towards Marina Bay. It was really impressive: on the bank, there were all those traditional little houses and in the background, the modern skyscrapers. Unfortunately, I forgot my camera, so I can only provide two selfies from that day. But I will definitely come to Singapore River more often, so photos will follow. At the Merlion, the landmark of Singapore (the water-spouting lion in the picture above), I was really surrounded by tourists for the first time and also heard German for the first time. From the Merlion, I continued to walk along the bank towards Marina Bay Sands (my guidebook calls it the most extravagant building in the city) on the opposite side of the bank and had a really good view of it.

However, halfway there, I was so tired and exhausted (I guess the jet lag and the excitement of the past few days caught up with me) that I made my way back home.
